The Practitioner Services team can provide advice and support for patient registrations and medical records on the following areas:

  • registering, removing and changing patient details
  • dealing with medical records flags
  • transaction management – unacknowledged acceptances, error files
  • quarterly archiving.

From 1st April 2024 we moved to one single e-mail address. Please update your records with immediate effect and start using this single e-mail address for all Practitioner Services (Medical) Patient Registration, Records & Mail Services queries or questions:

New for 2026 onwards

Please note that we are introducing a new telephone system from 12th January 2026 with a dedicated phone line for Practitioner Services inquiries relating to patient registration, CHI and medical records inquiries.

The new telephone number will be 03453001023

Please note this number will be operated during our business hours which are:

Monday - Thursday 08:30 - 16:30 Friday 08:30 - 16:00

The line will be closed on weekends and Public Holidays

Please note that all calls will be logged and some may be recorded for training and audit purposes.

Email will still be the best way to contact us and you should use the general email box nss.psdenquiries-general@nhs.scot

This email and telephone lines are only for patient registration, CHI and medical records inquiries. Any queries relating to other areas of Practitioner Services remain unchanged, e.g. payment queries should still be directed to the Contractor Finance Team in your normal way.
